COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Radford volleyball program fell 3-0 to Tennessee Tech in the final day of the Golden Eagle Invitational Saturday evening.

PLAY BY PLAY
In the first set, Radford was in a close one with the Golden Eagles early on. Tennessee Tech, however, was able to go on a 6-1 run to distance themselves from the Highlanders. While Radford was able to recover lost ground to make it an 11-15 game, Tennessee Tech would go on a 10-4 run to give themselves the first set at 25-15.
In the second set, the two programs would find themselves in a close one. Tennessee Tech and Radford traded points as both offenses seemed to be firing on all cylinders. While Radford was able to acquire a lead late into the set, the Golden Eagles followed closely behind to eventually overtake the Highlanders after an 8-4 run and seal the set at 25-22.
In the third set, the Golden Eagles would see themselves pacing away from the Highlanders with a 20-10 scoreline. However, the Highlanders would go on a 10-2 run, closing the gap on Tennessee Tech but were just unable to close things out as the Golden Eagles were able to clinch the final set at 25-21.

- This was the first time Radford has faced Tennessee Tech since 2016.
AROUND THE BIG SOUTH
- UNC Asheville collected a pair of wins today. A 3-2 win over Iona and a 3-0 vsweep over Hampton University.
- Charleston Southern was swept by Furman.
- Presbyterian were edged out 3-2 by Mercer.
- High Point cruised past Western Michigan 3-1. They will face JMU later today.
- USC Upstate edged Queens (NC) 3-2 in a five set affair.
- Winthrop fall 3-1 in their match up against Clemson.
UP NEXT
The Highlanders will remain on the road as they travel to Norfolk, Va. to participate in Old Dominion invitational that is set to begin Sep 20 and will run through Sep 21. They'll have a pair of matches against hosts Old Dominion on the first day and UMES for day two.
