Radford Falls in Final Match of Old Dominion Invite

NORFOLK, Va. – The Radford volleyball program fell in a tough one Saturday morning in their final match in Norfolk, Va. this weekend with a 3-0 final against UMES.
 
KEY STATS
  • Sophie Paspal led the attacking efforts with 12 kills and a .625 attack percentage.
  • Ryle Sloss and Sierra Moore earned a pair of aces each.
 
PLAY BY PLAY
After a long five-set match last night, Radford had a quick turnaround for their match against UMES today. The Hawks didn't waste any time taking an early lead by taking the first set by a thin margin 25-23 over the Highlanders.
 
The margins would remain tight for the rest of the match. Errors would prove costly, as despite a late lead in the second set the Hawks would respond once again to take a two-set lead 26-24. Both teams remained neck and neck into the third set, but Radford wouldn't be able to mount a comeback attempt dropping the third set 27-25.

AROUND THE BIG SOUTH
  • USC Upstate earned a 3-0 sweep over Idaho in Spartanburg, S.C.
  • High Point takes on Princeton and Howard as their weekend in Washington, D.C. continues.
  • Winthrop is set to face Georgia Southern at 1 p.m. in Statesboro, Ga.
  • Charleston Southern hosts Norfolk State with a 1 p.m. start.
  • Presbyterian faces South Carolina State at 2:30 p.m. in Spartanburg, S.C.
  • Gardner-Webb takes on George Mason in Fairfax, Va. at 5 p.m.

Conference play is finally here for the Highlanders who will start their Big South season on the road next Friday, September 27th against High Point.
