Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Highlanders Drop Home Opener 1-0 to Wofford

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford men's soccer program fell in their home opener 1-0 to Wofford Saturday evening at Cupp Stadium

KEY STATS

  • The Highlanders recorded eleven shots in total. Aidan O'Sullivan would lead the Highlanders in that category, having three to his name.

PLAY BY PLAY

In the first half of today's home opener, Wofford would open the scoring early as they were able to just place one past keeper Alex Eydelman off a corner. The Highlanders however were able to find a few chances at goal, but none were able to get passed the Wofford keeper finishing the first half 1-0 in favor of Wofford.

For the second half, Radford would pick up two shots at goal within a four-minute frame, but none were able to find the back of the net. Wofford tried to add on to their lead, but keeper Eydelman stood tall making the crucial save from a shot that seemed destined for goal.

The best chance at the 75th minute after midfielder Kevin Habibelahy would get one off that would bounce right off the post. The Highlanders continued to search for the equalizer but the scoreline would remain at 1-0 allowing Wofford to outlast the Highlanders.

HEAD COACH BARRETT QUOTABLE
"I thought we played really well at times today and created enough chances to score the goals we needed to win the game. We need to start games with the same intensity and quality that we seem to be playing in second halves and finish the chances we are creating. We are seeing improvement in each game, so I am excited about our upcoming games and conference play." - Chris Barrett
