  • The match was also the Highlanders third straight Saturday with a win on the home court.

PLAY BY PLAY
The Highlanders and Buccaneers were tied up in an intense first set. While Radford's offense looked for its footing, kills from Gage helped the Highlanders keep pace early. Aces also proved big early on as Moore served up a pair through the first 15 points.

A 7-1 run by the Highlanders put them up big at 19-14 as Ryno, Roberts and Hatch would each record kills. Radford held their lead to a 24-20 advantage and looked like they were ready to seal up set one. The Buccaneers came back with a force, though, and scored six unanswered to swipe the first set 26-24.

Needing a response, Radford kept at it going into the second set taking advantage of some Buccaneers' miscues to go ahead 9-5. The match quickly tightened, but the trio of Ryno, Roberts and Hatch responded once again to keep Radford ahead.

After the set tied at 16-all, a 4-1 run fueled by an ace from Miranda Howard and kill from Gabriela Smolenska reestablished Radford's lead. The two squads would trade points until Radford took care of business late getting a kill from Ryno and block from the duo of Katrina Miller and Alana Kolb to take set two 25-21.

Set three kept the same intense theme of the previous two sets, but saw an electric finish in Radford's favor. After going up 11-10, Charleston Southern rattled off a 5-0 run. Trying to hold onto the set, Radford would trail 17-14 before their most impressive run of the day.

Out of a timeout, Radford scored seven unanswered as Ryno and Kolb combined for three kills and the Buccaneers missed the mark with three attack errors. A kill from the Buccaneers briefly stopped the run, but Radford had established a 21-18 lead. The rally continued as Howard finished the 11-1 run to finish set three with a rare kill from the libero. The Highlanders took set three 25-18 and now led the match 2-1.

Down 7-4 early in the fourth set, the Highlanders continued to battle to try and avoid their third straight weekend with a five-set match. Miller would fuel the comeback with two kills while Gage provided another ace to give Radford a slim 11-10 lead. Roberts would a kill and ace of her own to keep Radford pacing ahead.

Tied at 20-20 and then falling behind 21-20, Hatch and Roberts combined for a big block that switched the momentum. Hatch and Kolb would provide two kills that put Radford ahead 23-22. Hatch would also add an ace and Kolb finished the match with a quick kill to take set four 25-23.
