RADFORD, Va. – The Radford softball program has earned the #25 ranking in the D1Softball Mid-Major Top 25 Poll, which released its Week 10 rankings Wednesday morning.
Â
The ranking is the first for the Highlanders as the mid-major poll is in its inaugural season. Radford is also the first Big South program to make an appearance on the list.
Â
Radford, who entered this week with a 24-20 (9-3 Big South) record, has heated up over the last month to vault into the top of the Big South standings. The Highlanders have won 8 of their last 11 games including series over USC Upstate, Charleston Southern and Longwood. Over the last month, Radford has defeated members of the mid-major poll including Charlotte and UNC Greensboro.
Â
Head Coach Kevin Fagan, currently in his debut season with the Highlanders, has led the program to multiple notables in year one including the team's first series victories over USC Upstate and Longwood as well as a power victory over Louisville. The Highlanders recently checked in at 88th in the NCAA's RPI rankings, the program's first crack inside the top 100 since the 2018 campaign.
Â
Dakota Redmon recently earned her fifth Big South weekly award nod earlier this week to go with other Big South award winners Morgan Cooper and Rachel Smith. The Highlanders have also been led offensively and defensively by Amanda Lee, Cassi Barbato, Isabel Harrison, Kelley Feigen, Grace Bechtol and Abby Bossler.
Â
The Highlanders are preparing for another pivotal Big South series this weekend when they host Winthrop for three games. First pitch is set for Friday, April 18th, at 4 p.m. with all the action streaming on ESPN+. Saturday's doubleheader will also play host to the Highlanders' senior day festivities.
