Men’s Soccer Announces Promotion of Cormack to Associate Head Coach

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford men's soccer program and Head Coach Christ Barrett announced Monday morning that Andy Cormack has been promoted from assistant coach to associate head coach.
"I am honored that Andy has accepted the position as Associate head Coach for our soccer program here at Radford University," commented Barrett. "In his two years here, Andy has proven to be loyal to the program, an extremely knowledgeable coach and a tremendous mentor and example to our student-athletes on and off the soccer field."
Entering his third season with the men's soccer program, Cormack moves into the associate head coach role after a pair of seasons in the New River Valley. Cormack holds a master's degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State in Athletic Administration and a U.S. Soccer Federation National B coaching license.
Prior to his time at Radford, he was instrumental in leading St. Francis Brooklyn to three Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships, four NEC regular season titles, five NEC Tournament finalist honors, three NCAA Tournament appearances and one appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
He, along with Director of Soccer/Head Coach Tom Giovatto and assistant coach Jason Orban, were named NEC Coaching Staff of the Year four times and United Soccer Coaches Northeast Regional Coaching Staff of the Year two times. They were able chosen as the ECAC Coaching Staff of the Year and BigAppleSoccer.com Coaching Staff of the Year each once each.
The Plymouth, England native helped recruit some of the top players in the NEC and the greater Northeast region during his time as a coach on Remsen Street. Under his watch, St. Francis had two NEC Players of the Year, four NEC Defensive Players of the Year, one NEC Rookie of the Year, 31 All-Conference honors, 16 All-NEC Tournament honors, nine NEC All-Rookie honors, six Northeast Regional honors and three All-American honors.
Cormack was also the head coach of the B2004/2005 Blue teams at Downtown United Soccer Club and previously served as the head coach of the Brooklyn Friends Girls Varsity team.
He and his wife Maggie have three children, William, Paula and Islay all happily residing in the New River Valley.
