McCarthy Lands Big South Golfer of the Week Award

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Thursday afternoon that Kieran McCarthy has been named the men's Golfer of the Week after his outstanding start to the season earlier this week at the Joe Feaganes Invitational.

McCarthy tied for runner-up at the 94-player Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational (par 71, 6,523 yards) with an 8-under par 205, as he carded under-par rounds of 69 (-2), 68 (-3) and 68 (-3) in his first outing of the season. He tallied four birdies in each round (12 total), and was 5-under on the par-4 holes.

The weekly award is the first in McCarthy's career with the Highlanders. It also marks the fourth straight season that a Radford men's golfer has earned a weekly award.

The Highlanders are currently preparing for their next action at the Carolina Cup coming up on September 27th. Play will run through September 30th at the Carolina Country Club.
