Radford Athletics Announces Hiring of Anderson as General Manager for Men’s and Women’s Basketball Programs

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford Men's and Women's Basketball programs and Radford Athletics have announced the hiring of Charlie Anderson who will serve as the General Manager for both programs.

"I'm honored to step into the role of General Manager here at Radford University and support both our men's and women's basketball programs. With the NCAA landscape changing so quickly and in particular, impacting Men's & Women's Basketball, I am excited to offer my support to both Coach Chu and Coach McGuire in building a sustainable model for success at Radford; to help our student-athletes, coaches, and staff navigate areas like NIL, roster construction, fundraising and community partnerships," commented Anderson.

Anderson comes to the New River Valley with a wealth of financial experience to help guide the Highlanders in the new era of NIL. He spent the last year with JLL Capital Markets as an investment sales analyst. While there, he supported end-to-end marketing and disposition of real estate assets on behalf of institutional and private clients while also underwriting approximately $2 billion worth of real estate assets. In addition to supporting senior leadership, he collaborated with teams across the organization to ensure transactions were executed efficiently and accurately.

"Charlie's ability to complement a natural basketball instinct with a very sound training in business makes his ability to add value very apparent. He has stepped into a leadership position here seamlessly that requires a broad understanding of both roster management and business management. I am excited to welcome he and his wife Lara to the community." added head men's basketball coach Zach Chu on Anderson's hiring.

"Our women's basketball program is excited to share a general manager staff position with our men's program," commented head women's basketball coach Mike McGuire. "College athletics is rapidly changing, and we appreciate the commitment to creating this position to help both programs to move in a great direction. I'm looking forward to working with Charlie this season. He is personable, bright, and already forward thinking. Charlie is going to be a difference maker for us and will make immediate impacts in the fundraising, NIL, and revenue sharing space."

Prior to his time with JLL Capital Markets and while attending Southern Methodist University, Anderson was the lead intern and broker with Tax Solutions from 2023-24. He helped lead business efforts while developing sales and interpersonal skills directing a team of interns through a comprehensive project analysis initiative that analyzed over 900 properties.

Anderson would graduate in 2023 from SMU with his degree in Economics with Finance Applications Specialization. While at SMU, he also spent time in the Undergraduate Real Estate Club which allowed him to attend multiple weekly networking events, corporate treks, skill training, and mentorship programs through the Folsom Institute for Real Estate. Anderson began his collegiate career playing basketball at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, before transferring to SMU. His return to Virginia also marks a homecoming, as he previously attended prep school at Woodberry Forest School in Orange, Virgina.
