Iwai’s Excellent Offensive Effort Earns Big South Weekly Award

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Monday afternoon that Hiromasa Iwai has been named the Offensive Player of the Week after his goal and two assists helped lift Radford to a decisive 3-0 victory over Howard.

Iwai was at the center of Radford's victory over Howard last week, helping guide the Highlanders to their first win of the season. In the match, Iwai scored or assisted all three goals. His goal, which put the game fully away at 3-0, was his first career goal with the Highlanders.

The weekly award is the first for the Highlanders this season, and their first dating back to 2023 when Alex Kryazhev also earned the offensive player of the week nod. The weekly award is the earliest in the season for a Highlander since Yoshiya Okawa earned freshman of the week honors in September of 2021.

Radford is preparing for their next round of nonconference action, this time on the road, as they visit ETSU this upcoming Wednesday, September 10th. Action will kick off at 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
