RALEIGH, N.C. – Radford women's basketball junior guard Angelina Nice was named to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund Class of 2026-27 Servant Leader Award honoree list. This award recognizes women's basketball student-athletes who put the needs of others before their own, uplift others, and do it with grace and humility.
The award was created prior to the 2024-25 season and recognizes those who best embody the characteristics of Coach Kay Yow – those who serve others and a commitment to selfless leadership, both on and off the court.
"Angelina is the epitome of what the Kay Yow Servant Leader Award stands for," said Radford head coach Mike McGuire. "She consistently demonstrates an uplifting spirit and team attitude in all that she does. Angelina has high expectations for herself but also cares deeply about others. We are proud of this recognition for Angelina."
All award winners wear a Servant Leader patch on their jersey throughout the 2026-27. One will be named Servant Leader of the Year at the end of the season, with a $25,000 grant given in their name to a local healthcare provider.
Kay Yow was the long-time head coach of the NC State Wolfpack women's basketball team, helping lead the program to five ACC regular season and four ACC tournament wins. She also coached the U.S. women's basketball team to an Olympic gold medal in 1988 and was named national Coach of the Year eight times. Yow accumulated over 700 wins as a head coach and was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Nasmith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002.
The Kay Yow Cancer Fund is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization committed to raising money for life-saving cancer research, underserved programs that provide access to quality cancer healthcare, and uniting people in the fight against all cancers affecting women. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund has awarded more than $11 million in the fight against all cancers affecting women. For more information on the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, please visit KayYow.com.
