Rough Final Inning Sees Bryant Even Series with Baseball

RADFORD, Va. –After a couple shaky innings late, the Radford baseball program wasn't able to come back as Bryant evened the weekend series with a shortened 15-2 final.

The game started quietly on both ends as neither team got anything running in the first inning. Walks hurt the Highlanders in the second as Bryant recorded just one hit but loaded the bases and eventually drove in the game's first run with a hit by pitch for a 1-0 lead.

The Bulldogs would plate three more in the third as walks continued to pile up. Joshua Milleville would enter to try and clean things up and did just that retiring two straight to keep it a 4-0 game. Bryant went away quietly in the fourth but added another run in the fifth thanks to a solo home run.

After Bryant added another run in the sixth, Radford was able to punch back in the bottom of the frame. Junho Son singled to lead the inning off, and Brady Powell put down a great bunt to move Son to second. A single by Breckin Nace put runners on the corners and Brady Whitacre stayed hot with the big RBI hit. Whitacre laced a triple down the right field line scoring two and pulling Radford to down just 6-2.

The seventh didn't go the Highlanders way as the Bulldogs piled on with nine hits and scored nine runs to blow the game open at 15-2. Noah Toole would draw a walk in the bottom half of the inning, but otherwise the Highlanders weren't able to chip into the deficit as Bryant held on for the 15-2 win in a shortened seven innings.
