MILL SPRING, N.C. – The Radford Highlanders track and field teams closed out a successful weekend on Saturday, with the women's team taking a third-place finish in the Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships. Jeylah Hamrick set a new school, conference meet, and conference record in the 400 meters in a championship winning effort, while the women's 4x400 meter relay squad set a new school record to take the second step on the podium.
"So impressed with this team," Director of Track & Field Shelli Sayers said after the meet. "This team had a magical season overall and we ended on some incredible performances. Conference champs are a hard two days. It's about surviving and advancing, then doing it all again. They handled It so well. The youth carried the team this weekend! For the men, this was our first championship in a long time. We look forward to growing and continuing to push to be the best that we can be."

- After taking the top step on the podium last year, all eyes were on Hamrick for the 400-meter race. The sophomore delivered and then some, running a 52.92 to take the gold by over a second to second place. Mattie Flores also hit a PR to finish fifth in the event.
- The women's 4x400 meter relay team of Hamrick, Flores, Raichelle Cornelius, and Jordan Jackson set a new school record in their attempt to get Radford a second title. Though coming up just short of Charleston Southern's Big South record time, the Highlanders' time of 3:40.01 sets a high benchmark for future Highlander athletes.
- Freshman Jaelynn Joiner took home a fourth-place finish with a triple jump of 12.16 meters, earning valuable points. Aliyah Taylor also set a new PR to place seventh overall.
- Jaslyne Robinson set a new PR in a fourth-place finish in the hurdles, improving by two hundredths of her previous best. After finishing eighth in the prelims, Leah Moye also improved by two places to finish sixth overall.
- Sophomore Salomon Alexis had a massive PR to place fifth in the men's triple jump, with a mark of 14.07 meters (46' 2").
- Freshman Janaya Moore grabbed five team points and just beat out the fifth-place runner by four thousandths of a season in the 60 meters.
- Hamrick was three hundredths off getting a third medal after placing fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 24.42. Moore was not too far behind the sophomore, taking fifth in the event.
- The women's team takes third place with 81 team points. It's an improvement of 23 points from last season and is the second top three finish in three seasons after previously not finishing in the top three since 2015.
