Redmon’s Dominant Week Garners Big South Player of the Week Award

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Monday afternoon that Dakota Redmon has been named Player of the Week thanks to her dominant week in the circle and at the plate for the Highlanders.
Redmon was at the heart of the Highlanders offensive resurgence this past weekend, leading the team in hits and RBIs while also dealing in the pitcher's circle. In the series opener over Presbyterian, Redmon went nearly untouched allowing just one hit in seven scoreless innings of work. She also helped herself on the offensive end driving in the first two runs of the game. In Saturday's offensive explosion that included 22 runs scored by Radford, Redmon factored into the scoring of seven of those runs. She demolished her previous single game career highs for hits, runs and RBIs in Saturday's doubleheader, finishing a triple shy of the cycle in the finale.
The weekly award is the fifth for the Highlanders this season and the second for Redmon, who earned a Pitcher of the Week nod a couple weeks ago. Teammates Morgan Cooper and Peyton Simmons have also garnered conference weekly awards attention. It also marks the third straight season Radford has earned five weekly awards, last done so when the program earned five or more across the 2005 to 2012 seasons.
Radford is currently preparing for a midweek nonconference bout at ETSU on Tuesday, March 31st. The Highlanders and Buccaneers will play two with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. and live stats available on RadfordAthletics.com.
