Nottingham, Radvanyi Selected as Big South Preseason Players of the Year

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Radford women's soccer duo of Caitlyn Nottingham and Lexi Radvanyi have been named as two of the four Big South Preseason Players of the Year, as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.
Nottingham, who was named Preseason Defender of the Year, helped the Highlanders collect six shutouts and hold opponents to one goal or less 11 times across the 2025 season. She played the fourth-most minutes in 2025 and has been in Head Coach Ben Sohrabi's starting 11 in 32 of Radford's last 34 contests. Last season, the senior also added a goal and three assists on the offensive end.
Radvanyi, who received the Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year award, is poised for another strong season in goal. The senior was named Big South Honorable Mention last season after making 51 saves with a .729 save percentage. Radvanyi also received a Big South Defensive Player of the Week award after making a career-high 10 saves in Radford's 2-1 win over USC Upstate on Oct. 4. The Leesburg, Va. native has posted 14 shutouts across her career while making 159 saves across 44 games played.
The Highlanders were picked second in the Big South's preseason poll, voted on by the conference's coaches. Radford totaled 69 points with one first place vote, six points ahead of third-place Longwood. High Point was selected as preseason favorites with seven first-place votes. USC Upstate received one first-place vote and finished fourth in the poll.
After their first exhibition game yesterday at Campbell, Radford has one more tune up before the season begins next week. Their final exhibition match is set for Sunday, Aug. 9 at VMI with 2 :00 p.m. kickoff. The season kicks off on Thursday, Aug. 13 at Cupp Stadium against Concord at 7:00 p.m.
