Radvanyi Named Big South Defensive Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Monday afternoon that senior goalkeeper Lexi Radvanyi has been named the conference's defensive player of the week. It's the first weekly award by a Highlander this season and Radvanyi's fourth in her career at Radford.
In the lone match of the week, Radvanyi made six saves while facing a whopping 21 shots in Radford's 1-1 draw against ETSU on Sunday night. The Leesburg, Va. native kept the Highlanders ahead through much of the match, which included a spectacular save in the 32nd minute. Though the Buccaneers eventually equalized late, Radvanyi quashed several late chances in the final 10 minutes to keep the match even.
The draw was ETSU's first non-win against a Big South opponent this season in three games.
This is the first weekly award by a Highlander this season and Radvanyi's fourth in her career, earning one each season. Before the season, she was named the Big South Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year.
Up next, Radford plays their first Big South match of the season at USC Upstate. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. from County University Soccer Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 19, with coverage on ESPN+.
