Summer School Aid


Student-athletes are expected to follow the procedure outlined below in order to be considered for summer school aid. (Applications are to be obtained from the Assistant Athletic Director of Student-Athlete Support Services)
 
  1. The student-athlete submits the summer school application to the Assistant Athletic Director of student-athlete support services. Deadline for consideration is the Friday after spring break each year.
  2. The Summer School Scholarship Committee will review all requests and make the final decisions. The following circumstances will be given priority when making decisions.
  1. Highest priority will be given to continuing eligibility needs.
  2. Priority will be given when it is demonstrated that summer attendance will eliminate the need for an additional long semester of attendance in the next academic year in order for the student to graduate. Documentation from Student Athlete Support Services (SASS) is necessary.
  3. All those who have reasons deemed appropriate by the Director of Student Athlete Support Services, Director of Compliance or the Director of Athletics.
  1. Summer School funding will not be awarded for graduate school classes or classes associated with a second major, second degree, or optional minor.
  2. In order to use summer school funds efficiently, student-athletes taking below 6 credit hours per summer term may only receive tuition fees; room and board fees must be approved.
  3. The student-athlete attending summer school prior to initial enrollment must be enrolled in a minimum of six hours of academic course work that is acceptable degree credit toward any of the institutions degree programs. NCAA bylaw 15.2.8.1.4
  4. Any student-athlete that withdrawals from a summer school course without prior approval is responsible for reimbursing the athletic department for all fees associated with changes made.
  5. Head coaches and student-athletes will be notified of the Committee's decisions.
