Radford University Athletics

The Sports Medicine department could not operate without the assistance of medical personnel outside of the university. The addition of two physicians' weekly visits to the athletic training room has significantly enhanced the program. 

Dr. Delmas Bolin, a physician specializing in Sports Medicine, serves as the head team physician. Bolin has clinics in the Dedmon Center Physicians' Suite on a bi-weekly basis to examine and treat student-athletes, and provides medical assistance at various intercollegiate contests. Bolin is also the head team physician at Salem High School, the medical director of the Roanoke College Athletic Training Education program and an associate professor at VCOM. He is the owner/director of Performance Sports Medicine in Roanoke, Va.

Bolin works with Radford athletes alongside associate team physician Dr. Scott Kincaid.

Dr. Chris Catterson, a team orthopedic surgeon, provides expertise in his field of orthopedic surgery and consulting. He formerly served as the team orthopedic surgeon for Western Carolina University.

Dr. Jay Ridgeway, currently practicing with Drs. Newman, Blackstock and Associates, serves as team optometrist, while Dr. Stephen McCuin DDS lends his time as athletic team dentist.
