WHAT IS NIL
What is NIL?
Per the interim NIL Policy that has been adopted on June 30, 2021, the NCAA has now allowed student-athletes to benefit and earn compensation from the use of their name, image and likeness (NIL). The Radford Department of Athletics is supportive of student-athletes who wish to engage in NIL activities in accordance with applicable NCAA and/or state or federal laws.
Radford NIL Guidelines serve as a guide for student-athletes about the certain types of activities that are allowed and not allowed in terms of NIL.
Student-Athlete Obligations
A student-athlete is expected to NOT enter into NIL agreements that include the following circumstances:
1) An agreement where a student-athlete earns compensation off their NIL in exchange for attendance at Radford or any other academic institution
2) An agreement where a student-athlete earns compensation for the use of their NIL as pay-for-performance in an intercollegiate sport.

HIGHLANDER EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Radford Athletics, in partnership with INFLCR, has officially launched the Highlander Exchange – a brand new comprehensive Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) platform that provides the opportunity for Highlander student-athletes and interested outside parties to connect directly for NIL partnerships, endorsements and opportunities.
The Highlander Exchange is just the latest addition to Radford's ongoing efforts of supporting NIL opportunities for their student-athletes. The exchange will serve as the central marketplace for all NIL information, education, opportunities and reporting. The platform allows for all interested businesses and parties to work directly with Highlander student-athletes for brand-focused activities. All potential partnerships must follow Radford University NIL protocols and will be approved in advance by the Radford Athletics Compliance department.Â
