Matthew Futch joined the men's basketball staff at Radford prior to the 2014-15 season as Director of Basketball Operations.

Futch came to RU from Ohio Christian University where he served as the head women's basketball coach for one season in 2013-14. He led the program to an 18-14 record and a runner-up finish in the Mid-East Region Tournament and a sixth place finish in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Tournament. Prior to his head coaching experience, Futch served as the Assistant Director of Operations and Player Personnel Coach for the men's program at his alma mater, the University of Akron, from 2011-13. The Zips won two Mid-American Conference regular season championships and a MAC Tournament title during his time on the staff, including an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2013.

As a player for the Zips, he averaged 3.8 points and 2.7 rebounds in 86 career games with 56 starts. He played professionally in Portugal and Mexico following his career at Akron.

The Akron, Ohio native owns two degrees from the University of Akron, a bachelor's in Education (2010) and a master's in Sports Administration (2012). He is the father of twin daughters, Sarah and Samyra.
