Maggie Hinson

  • Title
Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Support Services (Supervisor: Women's Lacrosse)
Maggie Hinson is entering her first year with the Highlanders after being hired as the Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Support Services in September 2025.

Hinson brings with her a strong background of commitment to student-athlete success across the country. For the past two years, she was the Director of Transition/Academics with Liberty University and the Liberty Football program. While there, she led end-to-end onboarding for all incoming freshman and transfer student-athletes, streamlining the process across admissions, financial aid, housing and NCAA compliance.

With Liberty, Hinson was a key operations liaison between academic affairs, financial services, student accounts and residence life to ensure seamless transitions and support for over 100 student-athletes. She also managed housing placements, executed scholarship and roster change documentations, oversaw team logistics for recruit visits, spearheaded development of community engagement, monitored class attendance and academic performance, and created and distributed weekly academic performance reports to coaching staffs.

Prior to her time with the Flames, Hinson spent 2018-22 with Coastal Carolina working her way up first as an Academic Advisor, then as a Senior Athletic Academic Advisor and eventually into a role as Associate Director for Student Athlete Academic Services. While there she oversaw academic support for the football and indoor volleyball programs.

From 2013-18, Hinson made various stops working in academic support departments at Mississippi State, Missouri and Memphis. She got her start right here in the New River Valley, though, beginning her career as a tutor and mentor at Virginia Tech from 2009-12.
