In 2023, Benji Pinckney joined the Radford Cross Country and Track & Field coaching staff after receiving his undergrad from Radford University and being an influential member of the Cross Country team from 2019-2022.
Pinckney embarked on his journey in the world of running during his junior and senior years at Grayson County High School. During these two years, he tied the mile school record at Grayson County, earned an 8th place state finish in Cross Country, and came in a 3rd place state finish in the 1600m track event. During his collegiate years at Radford University, Pinckney continued to excel, scoring for the Highlanders his freshman year in the Big South Championship; and ultimately securing a place among the top-10 all-time 5K school record holders. Notably, he also made significant contributions off the field presenting a study he conducted at the College Sport Research Institute.
His dedication to coaching and mentorship was further evidenced through his summer internship for York High School Cross Country and his role as Assistant to the Director at Championship Training Academy, both in 2021. Pinckney's commitment to the running community extended to various reputable running camps located in Virginia, North Carolina, and Illinois.
Pinckney completed his bachelor’s in sport management with a minor in media studies from Radford University in 2022. In pursuit of continuous growth, he is currently in the process of completing his master’s in education, curriculum, and instruction at Radford University. Concurrently, he serves as a Graduate Assistant in the office of Sponsored Programs and Grants Management at the university.
