Mackenzie Wartenberger

Mackenzie Wartenberger enters her second season as the Head Cross Country Coach and Assistant Track and Field Coach at Radford.

Radford distance athletes improved across the board during her first cross country season, which was highlighted by Teresa Williamson’s fourth place individual finish at the Big South Conference Championships.

The Highlander men posted seven top-20 finishes during Wartenberger's first season at the helm of the Cross Country program, while the Women took home four top-20 performances.

The success and steady improvement continued during the 2013-14 indoor season where a total of 17 program top-10 performances were recorded and four school records were broken.  Radford women's distance also contributed by scoring points in the 800m, 5000m and the Distance Medley Relay. The men also took home points in the 800m and the Distance Medley Relay.

The record books were also re-written during her first outdoor track season as the distance athletes added 21 program top-10 times to the list. Four additional school records were broken during the 2014 outdoor season by Teresa Williamson (800m, 1500m, 5000m) and Ryan Farnan (3000m Steeplechase). Teresa Williamson also captured the 1500m conference crown at the Big South Outdoor Championships.

Wartenberger’s first recruiting class will add depth and proven success to the program with the addition of 11 athletes, including four state champions.
