Jackie Jenkins

Program standout Jackie Jenkins was hired as an assistant coach on July 10, 2014 following a season as the program's volunteer assistant. The two-time Big South Pitcher of the Year assumes the role of Radford's pitching coach.

“It is a privilege to begin my professional career with the program that has opened many doors both as a student-athlete and now as a full-time staff member,” said Jenkins. “I've had first hand experience in seeing all of the hard work that has been put into this program over the past years, and I couldn't be more thankful to Radford and Coach White for allowing me to keep contributing to the growth of this program as a coach. I am very excited for what this year has in store."

Jenkins, a 2013 Radford graduate, continues to make the transition into the coaching profession after a tremendous collegiate career in the circle for the Highlanders. In her first season as the volunteer coach, Jenkins aided in all aspects of the program and worked closely with the RU pitching staff.

“We look forward to the addition of Jackie to our coaching staff on a full-time basis,” Johnson said. “She has done an outstanding job making the transition from student-athlete to coach, and her professionalism is to be commended. She will compliment our existing staff very well and we look forward to watching her grow as a coach.”

A two-time NFCA All-Region selection, Jenkins finished her career as a Highlander with top-five numbers in ERA, shutouts, wins and saves.

Her 2011 campaign was one of the best in program history when she sported a school-record and the NCAA’s ninth lowest ERA (1.12) and ranked seventh in the NCAA in fewest walks per seven innings (0.94).

A native a Mechanicsville, Va., Jenkins graduated with a degree in exercise, sport and health education and is currently working toward her masters degree in rehabilitation counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University.
