Henry Yip joined the Highlanders as an assistant coach in March 2025 and is currently entering his first season with the program.
"I am beyond excited to join the staff at Radford!" commented Yip. "It's very apparent how welcoming and supportive the Highlander community is. After the first conversation with Coach Hammond, I knew that her Radford roots and competitive passion will lead this program in the right direction. The energy in the gym is electric! We have a lot of fun projects in the works, and we can't wait to roll them out for the New River Valley!"

Yip has strong experience across all NCAA levels in addition to a heavy involvement in the club volleyball and high school circuits. Prior to joining Radford, Yip spent time as an assistant coach with North Dakota, Merrimack, Harvard, Division II Frostburg State (MD) and Division III Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Â
With Merrimack, he helped a trio of Warriors earn All-NEC awards with libero Kyle Standage, middle blocker Matthew Motes and outside hitter Logan Whitaker all receiving second-team honors. In his lone season at Harvard, which resulted in the Crimson winning 15 matches and earning a berth to the Ivy League Tournament, Yip aided a trio of Crimson women who garnered All-Ivy League honors with setter/hitter Ashley Wang receiving first-team honors and outside hitter Katie Vorhies and middle blocker Ryleigh Patterson earning second-team recognition. Wang was also named a third-team academic all-America selection.
Â
Prior to his time at Harvard, Yip coached for one season at NCAA Division II Frostburg State (MD). In 2022, Yip and the Bobcats won 16 matches with two players receiving end-of-the-year honors as outside hitter Beverly Braun was named an All-Mountain East Conference second teamer and outside/right-side hitter Joie Allen was placed on the All-MEC freshman team.
Â
Yip's first experience at the collegiate level came at NCAA Division III Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a volunteer assistant with the Engineers' men's program. MIT won 13 matches that spring with outside hitter Jack Yurkanin being named honorable mention All-United Volleyball Conference.

Yip is a 2019 graduate of the University of Massachusetts Boston earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology.
