Tartan Tail Sunny

  • Title
    Radford Therapy Dog

Sunny joined the Tartan Tails roster in August 2024, after a full year of training camp. Since then, he’s been putting up wins in stress relief, chalking up assists in easing anxiety and making highlight-reel plays in boosting team spirit. His game-day stats may not show up on the scoreboard, but student-athletes know he’s a true MVP for wellness.

You’ll spot Sunny at Wellness Wednesday, special campus events, and during scheduled clinical hours in the Dedmon Center, where he partners up with his human teammates to connect students to the support they need. Whether it’s a cuddle during crunch time or a reminder to breathe before the big game, Sunny knows how to shift momentum toward healing and resilience.

Off the court, Sunny is an avid bird-watcher with a super sniffer that could rival any scouting team. Sunny Bo or Sunny Bo Bunny are just two of the many nicknames that keep his tail wagging.

Every team needs heart, and for the Highlanders, Sunny brings his in paw-sitive style.

Sunny is a registered campus therapy dog through the Tartan Tails program. His handlers are Chad Hyatt, Associate AD for Sports Medicine, and Brenda Drake - though he proudly calls them Dad and Mom.
