Men's Golf 11th Following Opening Round of Landrey Invitational

GORDONSVILLE, Va. – Lane Hite (Clarksville, Va.) carded a one-over 73 and Chris Dillow (Bland, Va.) is just one stroke back of his teammate as the Radford men's golf team sits in 11th place following round one of the Frank Landrey Invitational hosted by Liberty. The 54-hole event is being played on the par-72, 7,186-yard Spring Creek Golf Club layout.

The entire field was unable to finish the scheduled second round due to darkness.

Competing in just his second collegiate tournament, Hite played the front nine in one-under before shooting 38 on the back side. Despite sitting in a tie for 21st after his first 18 holes, Hite is just five strokes off the individual lead. Dillow began the second round in a tie for 30th.

Sean Goshert (Conway, S.C.) was just off the pace of his fellow Highlanders with a 76, while Kyle Bailey (Fincastle, Va.) and Alex Karkeek (Exeter, England) carded rounds of 78 and 82, respectively.

As a team, Radford shot 301 after being away from competition for almost a month. The Highlanders are just eight shots out of the fifth spot.

Fielding Brewbaker of James Madison leads the fourth annual event after firing a four-under 68 in round one. Brewbaker is two shots clear of five others and one of 10 competitors to open with sub-par rounds.

Longwood (286) holds a narrow lead over Presbyterian (289) on the team leaderboard, while Richmond (290) is just four strokes back in third place.

Round two will resume at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, prior to the start of the final round which is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
