CHARLESTON, S.C. – On the heels of a season-low three-under 69,
Kyle Bailey (Fincastle, Va.) carded a 74 Tuesday to finish tied for fifth on the individual leaderboard, while the Radford men's golf team placed tied for third at the 2008 Charleston Southern Fall Invitational.
Chris Dillow (Bland, Va.) recorded the lowest round for the Highlanders this afternoon with a one-over 73 to tie for seventh, which was also his second consecutive top-10 showing. After entering the final day in a tie for fifth, Sean Goshert (Conway, S.C.) shot an 81 to end up 14th, while
Lane Hite (Clarksburg, Va.) finished with a group of golfers at 233 following an 80 on his final 18 holes.
Also competing for the Highlanders was
Alex Karkeek (Exeter, England), who placed tied for 45th with a total of 242.
Radford (298-297-308=903) trailed Stetson by three shots after 36 holes, but both teams were passed by Murray State, which fired a final round 289 to claim the team title. The Racers began the day 11 shots off the lead and ended the annual event 10 shots clear of the field for an impressive 21-shot swing.
Despite dropping a spot in the team standings, it was the Highlanders' second straight top-three showing.
Presbyterian's Thomas Todd took home individual medalist with a two-day total of one-under 215. Todd opened with an 80 before shooting 69 and a tournament-low 66 in rounds two and three, respectively.
The Highlanders will enjoy a six-day break before returning to the course Oct. 27-28 at the Old Dominion Collegiate in Nags Head, N.C.
