PINEHURST, N.C. – Radford carded a final round total of 303 Tuesday afternoon to finish 13th at the 2009 Pinehurst Intercollegiate presented by Gatorade. The 54-hole event was played on the Par 72, 7,035-yard Centennial Pinehurst No. 8 layout.
Lane Hite (Clarksville, Va./Bluestone) was the top Radford individual finishing in a tie for 44th with a three-round total of 225 (75-72-78).
Chris Dillow (Bland, Va./Bland) recorded his second straight one-over 73 to place one back of Hite, while
Sean Goshert (Conway, S.C./Socastee) and
Kyle Bailey (Fincastle, Va./James River) tied for 60th out of the 104-player field.
Also competing for Radford was
Paul Woodson (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan), who finished at 234 (71-81-81).
As a team, the Highlanders concluded their spring opener at 899 (300-296-303).
After opening with a one-over 73 Sunday, Penn State's T.J. Howe played his final two rounds in eight-under par, including a five-under 67 today to claim individual medalist.
The Nittany Lions fired a final round score of nine-under 279, which included four sub-par rounds to win the team title. Penn State's 54-hole total of two-under 862 (290-293-279) was five strokes clear of Virginia Tech.
The Highlanders will continue their spring slate at the William & Mary Invitational March 23-24 in Williamsburg, Va.
