WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Radford men's golf team sits in 15th place after the first round of the 2009 First Market Bank Intercollegiate hosted by William & Mary.
The 36-hole event is being played on the Par 71, 6,831-yard River Course layout at the Kingsmill Resort.
As a team, Radford carded an opening round 309 and will enter the final day 10 strokes out of the top 10.
Paul Woodson (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) is the top Highlander on the individual leaderboard following a five-over 76. Chris Dillow (Bland, Va./Bland) is one back of Woodson in tie for 58th, while Kyle Bailey (Fincastle, Va./James River) and Lane Hite (Clarksville, Va./Bluestone) opened with rounds of 78.
Also competing for Radford is Michael Wade (Floyd, Va./Floyd), who shot an 80 in his spring debut.
Leading the team standings after 18 holes of competition is Liberty, which fired an even-par 284 Monday, while Campbell is just one off the pace.
A pair of Liberty golfers and three others will share the overnight lead following rounds of one-under 70.
The final round of the First Market Bank Intercollegiate will begin tomorrow morning at 8 a.m.
