Hite Finishes Level Par; Men’s Golf Places Tied for 14th at Springhill Suites Intercollegiate

FLORENCE, S.C. – Lane Hite
(Clarksville, Va./Bluestone) carded his third straight even-par 72 to finish tied for 23rd and lead the way for the Radford men's golf team, who placed tied for 14th at the season-opening Springhill Suites Intercollegiate Tuesday.

The two-day/54-hole event hosted by Francis Marion was played on the Par 72, 7062-yard Country Club of South Carolina layout.

Kyle Bailey (Fincastle, Va./James River) and Weston Eklund (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) each shot three-over 75 in round three to finish tied for 44th and 51st, respectively, while Brixton Albert (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) placed tied for 66th and Michael Wade (Floyd, Va./Floyd) ended up tied for 74th.

As a team, the Highlanders shot a final round 299 (+11) to finish with a 54-hole total of 881 (292-290-299).

Georgia Southern overcame a five stroke deficit to claim the team title at 17-under par, while Western Carolina and overnight leader South Carolina-Aiken came home in second and third, respectively.

Elon's Jayson Judy and Casey Johnson of Appalachian State recorded a three-round total of nine-under 207 to share individual medalists.

Radford will enjoy a lengthy break before continuing its fall schedule Oct. 6-7 at the Frank Landrey Intercollegiate in Charlottesville, Va.
