FINAL RESULTS
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Redshirt-sophomore
Weston Eklund climbed eight spots up the leaderboard to finish second in the Davidson Invitational Tuesday afternoon.
The Invitational was played on the 7,208-yard, par-72 championship course at River Run Country Club, which was recognized by Golf Reporter as one of the finest courses in the southeast.
Eklund (74-71-68=213) fired a 68 (-4) on the final day to put himself into contention for the individual title. He fell one stroke shy of tournament champion, Brent Whitehead of Wofford.
Today's runner-up finish marked the second-consecutive tournament Eklund has finished third or better.
“Weston has played great golf the last few weeks and has established himself as one of the top players in the conference,” said head coach
Mike Grant.
Other notable Highlander finishes included junior
Paul Woodson, who finished tied for 33rd out of a 75-player field with a nine-over 228.
As a team, Radford (307-289-297=893) improved one position from the first day to record its third straight Top-10 showing of the fall campaign. The Highlanders are also 6-0 in conference play.
The Highlanders will continue their fall slate when they participate in the ODU Intercollegiate on October 24-26.
