RESULTS
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Radford remained unbeaten in Big South matches with a 5-2 men's tennis victory over Gardner-Webb Wednesday afternoon at the Webb Tennis Complex.
Winners of 29 of their last 30 conference affairs, the Highlanders improved to 9-9 overall and 3-0 in league play, while Gardner-Webb fell to 8-12 and 1-3.
For the second time in as many matches, Radford jumped out to a 1-0 lead by sweeping the doubles portion. Highlighting the doubles competition was
Ivan Salec and
Thomas Dehaen's ninth-straight win at the top spot, which moved them to 13-1 as a tandem.
In singles action, the Highlanders got straight-set wins from Dehaen,
Paul Boslet and
Erik Finkenbrink, while
Zack Watson rallied past Adam Knutsson-Sundblad in three sets, 3-6, 7-6 (3), 7-5.
Gardner-Webb's lone wins came from Evgeny Slesarev and Rafael Altmayer on courts one and three, respectively.
The Highlanders return to action Friday when they host conference rival Winthrop in a battle for first place at 2:00 p.m.
