COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Playing in its fourth overtime match in five games, the Radford women's soccer team edged Tennessee Tech, 1-0, on a long strike from freshman Julie Ruh'e Saturday afternoon.
The game-winner came 6:28 into extra time on the right side of the field when Ruh'e took a shot from 30 yards out and placed it in the far side of the net. With the score, Ruh'e becomes the first Highlander on the season to record double-digit points (11) and was her fifth goal of the season.
Radford improves to 5-4-0 with the win and ends a three-game skid, while Tennessee Tech drops to 2-7-0 on the season.
"It's good to get a road win against a hardworking, talented team that made it to the final of their conference tournament last year," said head coach Ben Sohrabi.
The offensive attack was back for Radford, as eight different players recorded a shot in the match.
The Highlanders held the advantage in shots, 15-13, and in corner kicks, 9-3.
Freshman goalkeeper Che' Brown stopped four shots in the match, while the opposition, Becca Toler, made five saves.
Radford continues their four-game road swing when they take on Alabama A&M Monday, Sept. 27th at 4 p.m.
