DAY ONE RESULTS
POWELLS POINT, N.C. – For the third consecutive tournament, senior
Michael Wade (Floyd, Va./Floyd) of the Radford men's golf team recorded a 69 (-3) and is currently in a tie for fifth place following the first day of the Outer Banks Intercollegiate on Sunday.
For Wade, it was his lowest opening round of the year and he is one of three Highlanders in the individual Top-15. Joining Wade at the top of the leaderboard is senior
Paul Woodson (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) who finished up the first 18 holes at one-under 71 to tie for 10th of 89 competitors.
Redshirt-junior
Weston Eklund (Charlottesville, Va./Ablemarle) capped his day at even-par and is tied for 15th.
Wade and Eklund each carded for birdies on the day.
Radford sits in seventh overall on the team leaderboard at four-over 292 and is only four-shots out of third place.
The three-day event is being played on the par-72, 6,535-yard layout at Kilmarlic Golf Course. The second round will begin Monday morning.
