FINAL RESULTS
HOLLYWOOD, S.C. – In addition to a career-best tournament from senior
Lane Hite, the Radford men's golf team wrapped up the Wendy's Charleston Shootout with a season-best third-place showing on Tuesday.
Radford (294-289-296) carded an eight-over 879 on the par-72, 6,922-yard course at the Links at Stono Ferry to finish just shy of team champion Baylor and tournament host College of Charleston. The annual event featured 15 teams and 75 players.
“I am really pleased with our performance over the past two days and this tournament will give us a great deal of confidence moving forward,” stated eighth-year head coach
Mike Grant.
Hite finished in a tie for eighth by shooting a one-over 217, which tied for the lowest 54-hole total of his career and his place on the leaderboard was also his highest as a Highlander. In total, he finished with 10 birdies and an eagle for the 54-hole event. .
Alongside Hite, junior
Paul Woodson also recorded the second-best 54-hole finish of his career by carding a three-over 219.
Freshman
Matt Harman came on strong during the last round, recording a 73 (+1) and tallied three birdies on the back nine to boost Radford's team score.
Radford will return to the links on March 11-13 when it competes in the Pinehurst Intercollegiate in Pinehurst, N.C.
