DAVIDSON, N.C. – Radford, which climbed up to 63rd in this week's ITA Rankings, ran its winning streak to nine straight with a 7-0 victory at Davidson Tuesday afternoon in non-conference men's tennis action.
The shutout was the fourth of the season and 14th dating back to 2009 for the Highlanders, who have won 12 of their last 13 matches.
Radford (13-3) claimed two of the three tightly contested doubles matches to grab the early 1-0 advantage.
After
Ivan Salec (Oroslavje, Croatia / Oroslavje Secondary School) and
Thomas Dehaen (Zwevegem, Belgium / Middenjury) improved to 29-4 as a duo with a come-from-behind 8-5 win on court one,
Nick Sayer (Hong Kong, Hong Kong / Cams Hill School) and
Paul Boslet (Hudson, Ohio / Hudson) clinched the point with a 9-8 decision at the final spot.
Joe Mills (England / Cardinal Newman Catholic) extended the Highlanders lead with a straight-set triumph (6-1, 6-1) over Calum Gee at the No. 3 position.
In addition to Mills, Radford also got two-set wins from Salec, Sayer,
Igor Ogrizek (Daruvar, Croatia / Birotechnika Grammar School) and Dehaen, while
Stijn Meulemans (Belgium / KA2 sportschool Hasselt) recorded his 12th straight victory with a three-set win.
The Highlanders will return to action Friday afternoon with a 3 p.m. dual against Tennessee Tech at the RU Tennis Courts.
