EKLUND TIED FOR 5TH, RADFORD MOVES TO 3RD AFTER DAY TWO

DAY TWO RESULTS

NINETY-SIX, S.C. – Weston Eklund sits tied for fifth, Michael Wade carded the Highlanders' best individual round at three-under 69 and Radford moved up to third after second round men's golf action at the Big South Championship on Tuesday.

As a team, Radford shot a three-over 291, seven strokes less than its first round total, and is currently 13-over par 589. The Highlanders are just five strokes back out of second place.

With his fifth-place standing after 36 holes, Eklund remains in contention for the individual crown and the all-conference nod heading into final round play tomorrow. Through the front nine, Eklund held the lead until Liberty's Preston Dembowiak tallied three birdies and an eagle on No. 5 to take over the top spot and went on to shoot six-under 66 and is eight-under for the tournament. Eklund wrapped up the day at three-over 75 and is even-par 144 through 36.

Wade converted seven birdies on the day and had a chance to eagle No. 18, but his putt from 10 feet stopped just shy of the cup. He finished an astounding 17 strokes better than yesterday.

“I was happy to see Michael play the way he did today, shooting 17 strokes fewer than yesterday,” commented head coach Mike Grant. “We had some ups and downs today but I feel we are in good standing and are very confident heading into the final round play tomorrow.”

Senior Lane Hite finished one-over for the round and is tied for 16th while freshman Matt Harman countered a six-over 78 first-round score with a two-over 74 total today and jumped ten spots up the individual standings.

The final round of the 54-hole season finale will begin tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m.
