FINAL RESULTS
NINETY-SIX, S.C. – The Radford men's golf team garnered a fifth-place showing at the Big South Championship with a 892 (+28) and
Weston Eklund finished the season finale in 10th with a six-over 222.
Eklund carded a final day six-over 78 and slipped a few spots to 10, barely missing out on one of the remaining five all-conference slots. He was Radford's top finisher with a 222 (+6).
In his last tournament as a Highlander, senior
Lane Hite played a solid tournament, turning in a 224 (+8) to stay at his previous day position and finish in a tie for 16th.
Junior
Michael Wade shot a final round two-over 74 and propelled nine positions up the individual leaderboard to finish in a tie for 25th. In his first Big South Championship, freshman
Matt Harman also finished tied for 25th at 13-over 229.
Liberty became the first team from Virginia to ever win a men's golf Big South Championship, winning by an amazing 31 strokes.
TOURNAMENT TIDBITS
-Radford's 291 (+3) team total in round two was the second lowest 18-hole score in team history in regards to Big South Championship play – 285 (2007)
-As a team, Radford shot an 892, the second lowest 54-hole Championship total - 891 is lowest
-Eklund's first-place performance after round one was the first instance under Grant's instruction that a Radford player carried the lead heading into the next round.
