CHARLOTTE, N.C. – No. 64 Radford cruised by seventh-seeded Presbyterian, 4-0, in the opening round of the Big South Men's Tennis Championship Thursday afternoon at the Charlotte Indoor Tennis Club.

After rain in the Rock Hill area this morning, the day's final matches were moved inside.

The Highlanders, who ran their school-record winning streak to 16 straight, will battle sixth-seeded Liberty on semifinal Friday at 1 p.m.

With the win, Radford hit the 20-win plateau for the fourth time in school history, improving to 20-3 overall.

Radford grabbed the early 1-0 advantage with doubles wins on courts one and three. A two-time all-conference doubles selection, the Highlanders' Ivan Salec (Oroslavje, Croatia / Oroslavje Secondary School) and Thomas Dehaen (Zwevegem, Belgium / Middenjury) recorded an 8-2 decision at the top spot to improve to 35-6 as a team.

Nick Sayer (Hong Kong, Hong Kong / Cams Hill School) and Joe Mills (Brighton, England / Cardinal Newman Catholic) clinched the team point with an 8-4 win at the final spot, while the all-league tandem of Igor Ogrizek (Daruvar, Croatia / Birotechnika Grammar School) and Stijn Meulemans (Belgium / KA2 sportschool Hasselt) had a 6-3 advantage when the point was decided.

Dehaen, who entered on a 15-match winning streak, improved to 18-3 on the spring with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win on court six to give the Highlanders a 2-0 lead.

Shortly after Mills (6-4, 6-0) extended Radford's advantage to 3-0, Meulemans (6-0, 6-4) secured the match with his 18th consecutive win on court five to move to 19-3 in 2011.

The Highlanders were up a set in the final three singles matches when the contest was decided.

Presbyterian concludes its season 11-14.
