CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After waiting more than seven hours to play the final semifinal match, No. 64 Radford advanced to its sixth straight Big South Men's Tennis Championship with a 4-1 come-from-behind victory over Liberty Friday evening at the Charlotte Indoor Tennis Club.

The dual was originally scheduled for 1 p.m. at Memorial Courts on the Winthrop University campus, but was pushed inside and to 8 p.m. due to rain.

In addition to their school-record 17th straight triumph, the Highlanders improve to 21-3 on the season and will meet host and top-seeded Winthrop in the title match for the sixth straight time Saturday at 1 p.m.

The sixth-seeded Flames (10-12) grabbed the early 1-0 lead with doubles victories at positions one and three.

Radford's lone doubles win came from its all-conference duo of Igor Ogrizek (Daruvar, Croatia / Birotechnika Grammar School) and Stijn Meulemans (Belgium / KA2 sportschool Hasselt), who recorded an 8-3 decision on court two.

After a disappointing doubles results, four-time all-conference performer Ivan Salec (Oroslavje, Croatia / Oroslavje Secondary School) put the first point of the board for the Highlanders with a 6-0, 6-2 win at the top singles position. It was the 15 straight win for the 115th ranked player in the country as he improved to a league-best 20-1.

Shortly after Salec's win, Radford got straight-set victories from Meulemans (6-2, 6-1) and Ogrizek (6-0, 6-3) to go in front for good.

With his win on court six, Meulemans extended his winning streak to 19 consecutive while improving to 20-3 on the spring.

Freshman Joe Mills (Brighton, England / Cardinal Newman Catholic) secured the comeback and clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-4 win at the No. 3 position.

Radford was up a set in the remaining two contests when the dual was decided.
