RADFORD, Va. – No. 68 Radford extended its winning streak to 12 straight with a convincing 7-0 blanking of Presbyterian in Big South men's tennis action Sunday afternoon at the RU Tennis Courts.
In addition to their school-record winning streak, the Highlanders recorded their 17th shutout dating back to 2009, while improving to 16-3 overall and 3-1 in the league. The loss dropped the Blue Hose to 11-10 and 0-4.
During its 12-match run, which includes four straight shutouts, Radford has outscored its opponents 73-10.
For the eighth time this season, Radford swept the doubles portion to grab the early 1-0 advantage.
In singles action, the Highlanders won all six matches in straight sets, including victories from
Stijn Meulemans (Belgium / KA2 sportschool Hasselt),
Thomas Dehaen (Zwevegem, Belgium / Middenjury) and
Ivan Salec (Oroslavje, Croatia / Oroslavje Secondary), who extended their winning streaks to 14, 12 and 11, respectively.
Radford also got singles triumphs from
Joe Mills (England / Cardinal Newman Catholic),
Igor Ogrizek (Daruvar, Croatia / Birotechnika Grammar) and
Nick Sayer (Hong Kong, Hong Kong / Cams Hill).
The Highlanders have won 31 of their last 34 regular season league matches.
Radford will enjoy a six-day break before hosting league-foe Liberty on Saturday at 2 p.m.
