EKLUND, TARREN LEAD MEN’S GOLF AT WENDY’S KIAWAH CLASSIC

ROUND 2  |  INDIVIDUAL  |  TEE TIMES

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. –
The Radford men's golf team carded a 310 in the second round of the Wendy's Kiawah Classic and is in eighth place entering Tuesday's final round. The 54-hole event is being played at the Kiawah Island Resort's Turtle Point Golf Course (par 71, 7,006 yards).

South Carolina maintains its lead on the 26-team field following a 9-over-par 293 to post a two-round ledger of 575 (282-293). The Gamecocks carry a seven-shot advantage over the College of Charleston, which has a two-day total of 582 (290-292). Five strokes back of the Cougars is Wisconsin (587). The Badgers tied for the low round of the day at 7-over-par 291.

Winthrop (589), Western Kentucky (594) and Jacksonville State (596) hold down the fourth, fifth and sixth positions in the team standings, respectively. Campbell (600), the defending champion, is in seventh, two strokes ahead of the Highlanders.

Weston Eklund and Callum Tarren are tied for 14th to lead the Radford contingent. Eklund and Tarren, who have the top and fourth-best scoring averages in the Big South, respectively, are at 146 (73-73) through two rounds of play.

Eklund had to rally in his second round like he did on the opening day. The 28th-ranked golfer in the nation was 5-over-par through 12 holes, but Eklund ended his round with a furious comeback carding three birdies over his final six holes.

Tarren played his first nine holes in even par before making three bogeys in a five-hole stretch on the back nine. The junior ended his day on a high note, however, logging a birdie at the 18th to finish at 2-over-par.

Sophomore Tanner Carbaugh is tied for 63rd at 155 (72-83) and junior Matt Harman is tied for 92nd at 159 (74-85). Freshman Conner Hayden is tied for 98th at 160 (79-81).

Stetson's Dustin Dingus takes a one-shot lead over a trio of golfers heading into the final 18 holes. Dingus returned a second-round-best 2-under-par 69 and has a two-round ledger of 1-under-par 141. Chasing the overnight leader are the College of Charleston's Zach Munroe, and South Carolina's Matthew NeSmith and Caleb Sturgeon, who are even-par through 36 holes.

It will be an all-Big South pairing tomorrow as the Highlanders are grouped with Campbell and Presbyterian College for the final round. Live scoring is provided by Golfstat and can be viewed by clicking here.
