MEN’S GOLF CONCLUDES SUCCESSFUL FALL FINISHING 12TH AT WENDY’S KIAWAH CLASSIC

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Radford men's golf team wrapped up its fall portion of the schedule with a 12th-place showing out of 26 teams at the Wendy's Kiawah Classic following Tuesday's final round at the Kiawah Island Resort's Turtle Point Golf Course (par 71, 7,006 yards). The Highlanders fired a three-round ledger of 912 (292-310-310).
South Carolina led wire-to-wire, claiming a 20-stroke victory over Winthrop. The Gamecocks put an 859 (282-293-284) on the leaderboard, while the Eagles carded an 879 (289-300-290).
Junior Callum Tarren led Radford at the event, posting a 223 (73-73-77) to finish tied for 25th. One stroke behind was redshirt senior Weston Eklund, who returned a 224 (73-73-78) to the clubhouse to tie for 28th.
Sophomore Tanner Carbaugh tallied the lowest round of the day for the Highlanders, en route to his three-round total of 231 (72-83-76) to tie for 57th. Junior Matt Harman tied for 89th at 238 (74-85-79), while freshman Conner Hayden shot 239 (79-81-79) and tied for 99th.
Caleb Sturgeon of South Carolina tied for the lowest round of the day (3-under-par 68) to claim a two-shot victory over teammate Will Starke who finished at 1-under-par 212 (70-73-69). In all, USC placed three golfers in the Top-6 of the 135-player field.
Through its four tournaments played this fall, Radford has recorded three Top-10 performances and has two golfers (Eklund and Tarren) ranked in the Top-4 of the Big South, respectively, based on scoring averages. Eklund is the 28th-ranked golfer in the nation according to Golfstat.
