MEN’S TENNIS WINS SIXTH STRAIGHT; BLANKS GARDNER-WEBB, 7-0

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Radford extended its winning streak to six consecutive with a 7-0 blanking of Gardner-Webb in Big South men's tennis action Sunday afternoon at the Webb Tennis Complex.

Winners of 49 of their last 54 matches against league competition, the Highlanders improve to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference, while the Runnin' Bulldogs fall to 2-7 and 0-1.

For the third straight match, Radford grabbed the early advantage by winning the doubles point. After Nicholas Sayer and Thomas Dehaen recorded an 8-6 decision at the top spot, the Highlanders swept the doubles portion with 8-4 wins on courts two and three.

Prior to Joe Mills putting Radford up 3-0 with a straight-set win at the fifth position, freshman Patrick O'Keefe improved to 7-0 on the spring with a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Stephen Martin.

Ranked 62nd in the most recent ITA Singles Rankings, Sayer clinched the winning point with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph of his own at the No. 1 spot.

The Highlanders also got straight-set victories from Dehaen and Stijn Meulemans, while Igor Ogrizek held off Ernest Alberch in three sets to secure the shutout.

Radford will enjoy a week break before heading to the Pacific Northwest for its four-match Spring Break swing.
