MEN’S TENNIS SWEEPS BIG SOUTH WEEKLY HONORS

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Radford sophomore Nicholas Sayer has been selected the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's Tennis Player of the Week, while teammate Patrick O'Keefe has been named The Crons Brand Freshman of the Week for matches played Feb. 20-26, as announced today by the League office.

In addition to finishing the week 3-0 at the No. 1 singles position, Sayer teamed with Thomas Dehaen to post a 2-0 doubles record at the top spot. Sayer helped the Highlanders to wins over Elon, Presbyterian and Gardner-Webb, while improving to 5-1 on the spring and 18-7 overall.

O'Keefe's week was highlighted by a straight-set match-clinching victory over Carlos Arboleda of Elon on Feb. 21. The frosh also won his other three singles contests to improve to a team-best 7-0 on the spring. In doubles, O'Keefe teamed with Randall Carter and Joe Mills to finish a combined 3-1.

This is the second weekly honor for both Sayer and O'Keefe this season.

The Highlanders, who have won six straight, are 6-1 on the season and 2-0 in league play.

Radford returns to the courts this weekend at George Fox University and Oregon. The Highlanders will also battle Boise State and Portland during its Spring Break trip to the Pacific Northwest.
