HONOLULU, Hawai'i – Stephanie Dameron provided seven innings of three-hit relief as Radford topped Marist, 5-1, in its opening game at the Pepsi Malahini Kipa Aloha Tournament hosted by the University of Hawai'i at Rainbow Wahine Stadium. The Highlanders (7-7) would drop the nightcap to host and No. 19 Hawai'i, 4-0.

Dameron (1-0) surrendered just one run and struck out two to earn her first victory of the season. Six different Highlanders recorded hits and Radford swiped six bases in the victory.

Radford used small ball to score the first run of the game in the fourth. Michelle Beall led off with a walk and stole second. Two straight sac bunts, the second with two strikes by Ryndee Ruch plated Beall.

The Highlanders extended their lead to 5-0 over the Red Foxes (5-8) with two runs in the fifth and sixth innings.  A RBI infield single by Nichole Beall and a sac fly by Jessie Hutchens made it 3-0 in the fifth. On Beall's single, Hannah Ojeda scooted home all the way from second and just beat the throw by the second baseman.

A pair of bases loaded wild pitches pushed Radford's advantage to 5-0 in the sixth.

Nicole DiVirgilio spoiled the shutout with a two-out solo home run in bottom half of the inning for Marist.

Prior to the long ball, Dameron had allowed just two singles and retired 10 straight batters between the second and fifth innings.

In the nightcap, Kaia Parnaby held the Highlanders to three hits, two by Nichole Beall as the 19th-ranked Rainbow Wahine (19-0) won their 19th straight and remained perfect on the season with the 4-0 triumph.

Parnaby struck out three, walked one and hit three as she improved to 8-0. It was the first time the Highlanders have been shut out this season.

Jackie Jenkins put in a good outing in relief, allowing just an earned run on five hits in five innings. However, two of those hits were long balls that pushed the Rainbow Wahine's lead from 1-0 to 5-0.Emily Norton struck out the side in her one-inning of relief.

Micalah Sacre suffered the defeat after walking the leadoff batter of the game and being relieved by Jenkins.

The Rainbow Wahine struck in the bottom of the first with an unearned run on a two-out RBI single by Jessica Iwata. A leadoff walk and a passed ball on strike three put the Kelly Majam in scoring position.

A solo home run by Sharla Kliebenstein in the fourth and a two-run shot by Iwata in the fifth pushed Hawai'i's lead to 4-0. Both runs in the fifth were unearned after the Highlanders' third miscue of the ballgame.

Note: Nichole Beall's walk in the sixth tied Lara Wohlgemuth (2001, 2003-05) for the all-time walks record of 72.

Radford will face host and No. 19 Hawai'i at approximately 11:30 p.m.
