MEN’S TENNIS CRUISES IN BATTLE OF BIG SOUTH UNBEATENS, 6-1

RADFORD, Va. – In a battle of the Big South's only remaining unbeatens, Radford defeated Coastal Carolina, 6-1, in men's tennis action Monday afternoon at the RU Tennis Courts.

The Highlanders, who have won 50 of their last 55 matches against league competition, improved to 10-3 overall and 3-0 in the conference, while CCU fell to 10-3 and 2-1.

"I'm really proud of the way we performed today against a very talented team in tough playing conditions," said Radford head coach Mike Anderson. "This group continues to get better and better each time they step on the courts and today was no different."

After Radford's top duo of Thomas Dehaen and Nicholas Sayer cruised to an 8-1 victory, Igor Ogrizek and Stijn Meulemans rode the momentum of an early break to secure the doubles point with a convincing 8-3 win on court three.

Patrick O'Keefe continued his impressive freshman campaign improving to 12-1 on the spring with a straight-set (6-1, 6-0) decision at the final singles spot.

Just minutes after O'Keefe put the Highlanders up 2-0, Ogrizek (6-2, 6-1) and Joe Mills (6-2, 6-4) clinched the match with two-set triumphs of their own on courts two and five, respectively.

Coastal Carolina's Garik Yedigarian entered 10-1 on the spring before his loss to Mills.

Sayer, who entered ranked 83^rd in the country, recorded his 10^th straight win by defeating Danny Heidecker, 6-2, 6-4 at the top singles position. In addition to extending his winning streak, the 2011 Big South Freshman of the Year moved to a team-best 23-7 on the season.

The Highlanders final singles victory came from Meulemans, who handed Yusuke Kusuda his first setback of the spring with a 6-4, 6-4 win.

Coastal Carolina's only point came from Matias Di Pasquale, who knocked off Dehaen, 6-2, 6-4 at the fourth spot.

Radford will continue its five-match homestand Wednesday afternoon with a 3 p.m. dual against in-state foe James Madison.
