DOUBLES PLAY LIFTS NO. 35 BOISE STATE OVER MEN’S TENNIS, 4-3

BOISE, Idaho – Despite Nicholas Sayer's second consecutive win over a nationally-ranked foe, the doubles point proved to be the difference as No. 35 Boise State edged Radford, 4-3, in non-conference men's tennis action Wednesday afternoon at the Appleton Tennis Center.

After an 8-2 win from their No. 3 doubles team, the Broncos' top duo of Damian Hume and Scott Sears used a late break to get by Sayer and Thomas Dehaen to clinch the team point.

Igor Ogrizek and Stijn Meulemans jumped out to a 6-3 lead on court two and defeated Andy Bettles and Flipp Pogostkin, 8-6, for the Highlanders' lone doubles triumph.

Trailing 3-0 after Boise State (10-5) recorded wins at the final two singles spots, Radford responded with straight-set victories from Dehaen (6-3, 6-4), Sayer (6-2, 7-5) and Meulemans (6-3, 6-3) to even the score and put all the focus on the second singles match.

With the dual tied 3-3, Damian Hume, who entered 59^th in the latest singles rankings, held off Ogrizek in three sets (6-3, 3-6, 6-3) to halt the comeback and secure the match.

In the feature match of the afternoon, No. 104 Sayer knocked off No. 60 James Meredith to record his 20^th win of the year and fifth over a nationally-ranked opponent.

Radford (7-3) will conclude its Spring Break trip to the Pacific Northwest with a 4 p.m. (EST) dual at No. 45 Portland Friday.
