RADFORD ADVANCES TO 7TH STRAIGHT FINALS WITH 4-0 WIN OVER CAMPBELL

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Top-seeded Radford will make its seventh straight Championship appearance thanks to a 4-0 blanking of fourth-seeded Campbell in the semifinals of the 2012 Big South Men's Tennis Tournament Friday morning at the Asheville Racquet Club.

The Highlanders will face seventh-seeded Presbyterian tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. for the right to play in the NCAA Tournament.

Radford, which has won four of the last five conference titles, improves to 19-5 overall, while the Fighting Camels conclude their first year back in the league, 11-11.

Since 2006, the Highlanders have won 57 of their last 63 against league competition, which includes a 16-3 mark in tournament matches.

Each of the doubles matches required a tiebreaker to decide and for the second straight day, Radford got wins from courts two and three to grab the team point.

“We fully expected this to be a difficult match,” said Highlander head coach Mike Anderson. “Campbell is extremely talented, well-coached and is a great addition to our conference.”

Two-time all-conference performer Thomas Dehaen put the Highlanders up 2-0 with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Steven Billington at the No. 4 singles position.

Just minutes after Dehaen's 24^th triumph of the season, Stijn Meulemans (6-4, 6-1) and Patrick O'Keefe (6-3, 6-2) recorded impressive straight-set wins of their own to clinch the dual.

“I think our training throughout the entire season as well as intensity helped us get one step closer to our team goals. We are looking forward to tomorrow's Championship match.”
