MEN’S TENNIS FALLS AT EAST TENNESSEE STATE

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – East Tennessee State ended Radford's six-match winning streak with a 4-0 victory over the Highlanders Tuesday afternoon at the Buddy Hartsell Tennis Center.

The Bucs' Jeremy Bonneville and Juan Ramirez rallied from a 4-1 deficit on court two to defeat Igor Ogrizek and Stijn Meulemans, 8-6, and claim the doubles point.

Radford's lone doubles victory came from its top duo of Nicholas Sayer and Thomas Dehaen, who won their sixth straight with a 9-8 (3) decision.

After ETSU got straight-set wins from Jesus Bandres (6-1, 6-1) and Roger Ordeig (6-4, 6-0) to go up, 3-0, the match was suspended due to severe thunderstorms.

Play resumed two hours later at a local indoor facility, where Sander Gille upset No. 78 Sayer, 6-3, 6-4, to clinch the match.

The Highlanders, who were without the services of freshman Patrick O'Keefe due to injury, were up a set in two of the matches and leading the second set on court five when the match was decided.

Each of Radford's four setbacks this spring have come to teams that were ranked or have spent time in the ITA National Rankings.

Radford will begin its final homestand of the 2011-12 season with a 3 p.m. dual against Charlotte Wednesday afternoon at the RU Tennis Courts.
